How we brought ServiceNow and Hedera together to develop N2

When Nico and I first started out, we were like any other entrepreneurs : We had a growing customer base, but we were struggling to keep track of everything.

Our approach was scattered, with online spreadsheets and slides serving as our primary organization tools. It wasn’t long before we realized we needed a more efficient and streamlined way to manage our business.

That’s when we decided to build our own solution. We knew we needed tools to help us succeed, but nothing existed that met our specific needs. With our combined knowledge of ServiceNow, we got to work on a free development instance. It wasn’t easy, with the constraints of the environment and no guarantees that we could keep our platform. But we persisted, encoding real data into our solution and iterating as we went along.

It was a tricky process, especially since Nico had a million ideas per second and we had to narrow down what was actually useful. But that’s how we worked together – coming up with ideas, trying them out, and making conclusions to move forward. Eventually, our application began to take shape and we were able to manage all aspects of our business in one place.

The birth of Nitrogen

So in order to improve our homemade solution, we decided to meet for just half an hour every day to try and stay organized, but even that wasn’t enough. We needed a better solution. So we turned to ServiceNow, a platform we knew well, and started building our own tool.

Despite the challenges, our application started to take shape. We were able to manage our business leads, missions, results, players, skills, and certifications all in one place. But we knew we needed to find a way to make it more secure and sustainable.

That’s when we started to explore integrating our platform with a ledger or blockchain. And that’s also when we met Nicola Attico, who believed in our ideas and offered to help us become official beta testers for his connector with Hedera. We knew that becoming true ServiceNow customers was the only way to make this happen, so we took the leap and never looked back. And Nitrogen was born.

Public Showcase

In November 2022, a few weeks after becoming official ServiceNow customers, Nico and I were invited to present our business case publicly at the ServiceNow forum in Brussels. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase Nitrogen and share our story with a wider audience.

During the event, we demonstrated our recruitment process, which included the use of NFTs as membership cards for new players. The audience was impressed with our use of cutting-edge technology and the innovative ways we were using ServiceNow to manage our business.

The public showcase was a huge success and helped us to gain even more traction in the industry. It was a great validation of all the hard work that we had put into developing Nitrogen, and it gave us the confidence to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible with ServiceNow and blockchain technology.
